Pin Oaks _______ ?

Sunday we announced that Matt and Amy Tucker have been feeling led to plant a church. The process has been long and bathed in prayer for them and for our own Elder Leadership Team. This calling started over a year ago after Pastor shared a vision for church planting and how we can be more focused on multiplying our efforts in the years to come. Amy shared she was immediately drawn to the idea and turned to ask Matt, “what does that mean for us?” Matt’s reply at the time was understandably, “nothing!” However, God was working and it wasn’t long before Matt was sitting down with Pastor Phil to seek out answers to his list of questions.
After several conversations we are thrilled to report that there is even better news in all of this… he wants to plant a church in partnership with Pin Oaks and share our way of doing things with his new community. A new version of Pin Oaks concentrating on a new community with people who need to hear and experience the Gospel. Matt and Amy want to see people who are far from God meet Jesus through the intentional sharing of the Gospel and eventually see their entire community come to know Jesus.
We followed our announcement with a time of prayer and a reminder that we don’t have all the answers yet, but we do have a growing and developing plan. Part of that plan included 3 communities. North McKinney/Melissa, North Van Alstyne/Howe, and Princeton. Each area had its own allure. After several assessments, more prayer, and discussion with our ELT it was decided that Princeton would be the best fit for Matt and Amy. While this might still change, the window of change is slowly shrinking, and here is why.
Part of our developing plan is to have Matt stay on staff for the next 12-18 months while preparing to launch Pin Oaks Princeton. He will begin to add knowledge to his Bible College Degree that will enhance his ability to pastor this new church all while working alongside our pastor. He will serve in every area of ministry at Pin Oaks as well as increase the amount of time he will preach. He will have significant challenges ahead of him and milestones to track his progress. Our ELT will help encourage and hold him accountable to this process as well as serve as his leadership during the Pre-Launch Phase and for the first few years after launch. He will work closely with Pastor and other staff at Pin Oaks Anna in every area of ministry. The goal is to not reinvent the wheel or start from scratch but to partner together and share the load where possible.
We will be hosting a night of prayer for Matt and Amy as well as taking time to cast the vision for the new work in Princeton. We will outline expectations and milestones, as well as share some of the timeline goals we have for this new church. In the meantime, pray every day. Pray for the Tuckers, the community of Princeton, and for God’s hand to be on all who lead during this time of growth.
